Criterion Three Philosophy & Highlights
It seems that nearly everything I engage in within higher education requires continuing preparation and study.  I believe this to be true because I like to know a little about everything.  If I am going to a meeting and a specific topic(s) are going to be discussed, I make sure to do my homework (preparation & study) on the issues.  I want to make sure that I know enough not only engage in an intelligible discussion on the issues but also to be able to provide meaningful contribution.

Further, I hold many licensures and certifications (within multiple disciplines).  Even though my main focus is education, I feel it is important to keep all of my licensures and certifications current.  To do this, I end of taking a great deal of courses and attend many workshops to fulfill the requirements of relicensing and recertification.

Updating courses that I teach also require that I continue to prepare myself through further study. I am constantly updating my syllabi based on the things I am learning.

In an effort to provide a forum for professional presentation and publication for my colleagues from SMSU and around the globe, I have engaged in countless hours of study, preparation, and research.  I am a firm believer that nothing of quality comes easily.  Some of the topics/issues I had to research and study included ISSN numbering, DOI numbers, ISBN numbering, trademarking, the Library of Congress system, refereed processes, incorporation, copy writing, marketing, distribution, network building, database construction, international networking, the United States visa and letter of invitation processes, and so much more.

During this time period, I also took a series of 17 courses to become certified as an inbound marketer.  I did this so I could assist our graduate marketer, Cori Ann Dahlager, with marketing the learning communities.  Not only marketing them but marketing them based in solid research and with the latest social media data.

This is just a brief narrative of my work within criterion three.  Please click on the brown box below to read my comprehensive report.
