Criterion Five Philosophy & Highlights
I have only placed 20% on this criterion but again, it is one I could easily have placed 100%.  I spend so much time giving to the university and community.  I served on the graduate curriculum committee, the faculty improvement committee, and assisted with the HLC visits and also on several informal committees that benefit the department and the learning communities including revenue generating (MA Plus courses, Iowa Expansion, Des Moines proposal, Learner's Edge initiative, administrative licensure), Professional Development & Curricular Refinement (portfolio, action research, and resource sharing), and Mentoring (Mentored-myself by Dr. Richardson and Mentees including Cori Ann and co-facilitators).  In addition, I have engaged in Also, I have written numerous faculty development grants over the years and during this period wrote one for a faculty book club (with a series of books) focused on incorporating social media into our courses.

I work diligently on the promotion and marketing of our learning communities.  I have engaged in a great deal of financial analysis of the LC's focused on market sustainability, expansion, and cost containment. My findings have left me concerned about the required minimum numbers as well as site selection.  I have continually shared my perspective at our learning community meetings.  Additionally, I am in constant contact with Cori Ann regarding marketing and strategies.  I regularly offer my assistance and services with our marketing.  I have done a great deal to move our marketing efforts forward including selflessly giving up a once-in-a-career sabbatical to study high education marketing specific to our learning communities.  Currently, I am in contact with Cori Ann weekly to discuss marketing and offer assistance, I host the "Unordinary Professor" blog, I host the "Dr. Yerigan's SMSU LC" blog, I host "Dr. Yerigan's SMSU LC" Facebook page and wrote a grant for and developed the LC Ambassador Program.  With these efforts, I have collected a ton of data of which I would love the opportunity to share with you.  Through my Facebook page alone, I have been able to discern what our educational audience likes to read.  I have hundreds of follows and thousands of hits on my postings.  This IS a great tool for marketing future LC sites.

I give a great deal through service contributions and financial contributions.  Over the course of this plan, I have donated thousands of hours through service as indicated in my comprehensive report and evidence.  Additionally, during this 4-year plan I have donated nearly $100,000 of my personal money to charities, a kindness scholarship, research scholarships, book donations, and the founding of an international research organization offering referred publishing and presenting opportunities.  Although some of my local colleagues like to belittle the importance or reach of my CSI organization, I have received nearly 100 letters from across the globe highlighting the importance of my organization to all of academia.

These are just a few of the highlights for my work within criterion five. Please click on the brown box below to read my comprehensive report.
